Complying with KiwiSaver changes on versions earlier than 2025.1.4

From 1 April 2026, you won't be able to create a pay run if any employee or employer KiwiSaver pay item is set below the new legislated minimum rate of 3.5%.

If you stay on a version earlier than 2025.1.4, you won't have access to features that make it easy to update rates in bulk and apply rate exemptions. See the 2025.1.4 release notes for more details.

Instead, to stay compliant, you need to manually update employee KiwiSaver rates on the Standard Pay tab of the Pay Details form (MPPP2310).

  • If an employee's KiwiSaver rate is at the current default minimum of 3%, manually update the rate to the new default rate 3.5%. Save your changes.

  • If an employer KiwiSaver pay item has a default rate of 3%, from 1 April 2026 this rate will automatically update to 3.5%.

If you have a large amount of employees who need their KiwiSaver rate updated from 3% to 3.5%, we can apply a script that will update the rates. Please contact us if you would like the script applied to your site to update these KiwiSaver rates.

We would also highly recommend that you schedule your site to be upgraded to 2025.1.4 as soon as possible.
