Error when emailing a payslip: “Object reference not set to an instance of an object”

This error occurs when an employee's payslip password is set to be their tax number, but they don't have a tax number saved in MYOB Acumatica.

There are two ways to fix the error. If the employee:

  • Has a tax number but it hasn't been added to the Pay Details form (MPPP2310), add it in the Tax file number (TFN) field for Australian employees or IRD Number field for New Zealand employees.
  • Does not have a tax number, go to the Payroll Preferences form (MPPP1100). Go to General Settings tab and change the Password Pattern to use a pattern that does not include the tax number (e.g. bank account, employee ID, year).
