Getting ready for new payroll reports

This page is for MYOB Acumatica consultants

Check all changes in a test environment before taking them live. Make sure all related features still work as expected and that your data is unaffected.

With the MYOB Acumatica 2023.1.5 release, we’ve added a payroll reports workspace for new and existing reports. We’ve also added new payslip settings.

To make sure that these improvements work properly for your client sites with payroll report customisations, there are some steps you needs to take.

You need either the Administrator or Customiser role to be able to prepare sites for the report improvements.

Before upgrading, unpublish and delete EAP customisations

If a site participated in the Advanced Reports Customisation early access program (EAP), you must unpublish and delete their EAP customisations before upgrading.

This ensures that the upgrade replaces the EAP menu items with the new reports. It also prevents access issues, where some users can't access payroll screens or where payroll reports become unrestricted.

The best time to unpublish is just before the upgrade happens, like the evening before an overnight upgrade.

  1. Go to the Publish Customisations screen (SM204505).

  2. Deselect the EAP customisations.

  3. On the toolbar, click Publish. This unpublishes the EAP customisations you deselected and publishes all the customisations you left selected.

  4. Select the EAP customisations. You can find a list of EAP customisation names at the bottom of this page.

  5. On the toolbar, click the Delete Row icon ( X ). This permanently removes the customisation so it can’t accidentally be published later.

  6. Click the Save icon ADVBSaveRecordButton .

Got custom payroll workspaces?

To avoid confusion with the new payroll reports workspace, you might need to edit the site’s workspaces. Here are some things to consider after upgrading to 2023.1.5:

  • The site might have two workspaces called Payroll Reports – a customised one and the new default one.

  • Does the site divide its payroll reports into sub-categories? E.g. compliance reports, pay run reports, etc.

  • Has the site changed how payroll reports are displayed in the Payroll workspace?

  • Does the site have custom payroll reports?

You can deal with these situations by:

  • Unpinning or deleting the custom payroll reports workspace.

  • Moving the new default reports to the custom workspace, then removing the new default payroll reports workspace.

  • Moving custom reports to the new default payroll reports workspace.

Taking advantage of payslip improvements

For a site to take advantage of the payslip improvements, the steps depend on whether they have customised payslips.

If a site:

  • has customised payslips, they have two options. Deactivate the customised payslips and use the new default payslips instead, or update the payslip customisation to include the improvements.

  • took part in the Advanced Reports Customisation EAP, you need to unpublish the EAP customisations. Then, they’ll automatically use the new default payslips after upgrading.

  • never customised their payslips, they’ll automatically use the new default payslips after upgrading.

Once a site is ready to use the payslip improvements, you just need to set up the new settings to their liking. For example, they might want to show annual salaries in payslips.
